Eruption Cysts
Eruption cysts are fluid-filled blisters that can develop over gums where primary teeth are about to come through. The exact cause of eruption cysts in unclear <1>. In one clinical study, it was found that lack of arch space, cavities, infections and trauma could be possible causes<2>. Eruption cysts are harmless and will generally drain on their own once the tooth has erupted. Do not puncture the cyst yourself, as that could lead to infections and pain to the baby. If the eruption cysts are causing the baby a lot of pain, bleeding or is interfering with feeding, you should see your dentist <1,3>.
